E-mails to Blue Butterfly #4

Dear Blue Butterfly,

We deeply appreciate your thoughtful blog post on Farm Sanctuary and Gene’s book. You are spot on with your comparison of the idyllic life of Old MacDonald’s farm and the reality of today’s institutionalized farms, as well as how the current oppression of farm animals parallels other forms of oppression that society now looks back on in horror and shame.

I especially liked how you noted that Farm Sanctuary is a place you can visit “in real life,” as opposed to factory farms, which go to great lengths to keep the public out. I think that’s one of the beautiful things about Farm Sanctuary—it’s a state of mind, a glimpse of the future, a driving force for change, and a place you can actually visit in real life… all at once.

We look forward to when you can visit us someday. In the meantime, endless thanks and appreciation for your wonderful support and for everything you do for farm animals!

All the best,
Meredith of Farm Sanctuary
